Santa is coming to Town!
When he heard it was going to be difficult for the children to visit him this year, Santa Claus thought to himself, "I'll visit them instead!"
On the evening of Wednesday 16th December, Santa Claus is going to be driven around the streets of Wanstead and South Woodford and is going to try and wave at as many children as he possibly can, with the help of his very own elves. Please do spread the word, stand outside your house and give Santa a warm welcome! His elves will be collecting change in buckets (from a distance), and your children are welcome to throw some change in! The Santa Drive By will take place from 4.30-7.00pm, please see the route with timings and map attached.
COVID-19: During the event, please remember to keep a 2m social distance and wear a mask!
This time of year, Parent and Teacher Associations (PTA) at schools are usually organising Christmas Bazaars, silent auctions and lots more! This year, with COVID-19 making our usual fundraising activities extremely difficult, Wanstead's local school PTA’s have come together as a community to sprinkle some Christmas cheer and ensure the children still enjoy the magic of Christmas. They will also be splitting any funds raised equally between the five schools.
The money raised is spent on projects that have a direct impact on the children's learning environment. This year both Wanstead Church School and Our Lady of Lourdes PTA's are raising funds to support the upgrade of their school's computer equipment. The Oakdale Schools are fundraising for their push towards reading, including replacing old books with new, gaining annual subscription for age-appropriate magazines/newspapers and more playground wall signs to extend pupils' reading. Nightingale Primary School are also fundraising for a brand new set of books for the reading area in every classroom. Snaresbrook Primary School are raising money towards a bike track to promote road and cycle safety at the school. These projects are instrumental to the children's education, and the way in which our teachers are able to teach.
We would be so grateful for your donations and support! If it makes you smile, you can show your appreciation by making a donation online here: https://www.pta-events.co.uk/wcspta/. There will also be some elves with buckets on the day.
Please note that the streets and timings are indicative and while we will stick to the plan as much as possible, change may occur. The route is predominantly Wanstead based as this is where most of the schools are, however it will end in South Woodford by the Oakdale schools. We hope to send a message from Santa following the event to appease any children that miss it.
Huge thanks to Parker Dairies, North London Loft Rooms and Terry Tew Sound and Light for supporting this event
Thanks to Participating PTA's: Wanstead Church School, Snaresbrook Primary School, Oakdale Schools, Our Lady of Lourdes and Nightingale Primary School.

Please return the completed ticket stubs with the correct money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on the front, no later than Thursday 10th December. If you would like any extra tickets for family and friends, please put extra money in the same envelope with a note letting us know how many extra tickets you would like. The office will then send the extra tickets back to you in your child's book bag. For example, if you want 5 extra tickets, please put £10 in the envelope. We kindly ask that any unused tickets are returned so they can be resold. Winners will be drawn on 15th December. Good luck!

We've raffled everything from chocolates, wine, spirits, toiletries children’s books, craft and toys and more. Whilst the tombola will not be possible this year, we would still love to keep up with the tradition and receive donations which will be incorporated into our Christmas raffle to make it even more fabulous. Donations need to be new, within sell by date, unopened and in original packaging. They can be left in the white box which will be located at the large gates at pick up time (Cowslip Road entrance) every day from Friday 27th - Tuesday 8th December.
Oakdale Season’ Greetings Boards Fundraiser
We’re delighted to have Churchills Estates as the sponsor for Oakdale’s holiday boards! They will sponsor Oakdale’s holiday greetings boards, by paying the school £10 for each board placed in parents’ and carers’ front gardens for two weeks this season. Churchills will put up and take down every board.
All we need from you is your name and address.
Please copy the form below and email the form (filled in) to the PTFA at firstname.lastname@example.org, by Friday 27th November.
The more we get, the more we’ll raise! Sometimes we are oversubscribed and not everyone who responds is given a board, but it’s really important that people respond, as we need as many as we can get.
Please confirm that you are a property owner, or have permission from the property owner, to have a Churchill’s board placed outside your property for 2 weeks this holiday season.
